In October 2025, local Photographer Phil Green led a series of workshops exploring documentary photography techniques. The group looked at the work of Chris Killip exhibited in our exhibition, Chris Killip: Askam-in-Furness, supported by Martin Parr Foundation. They explored the local neighbourhood, learning new camera skills along the way.

The result is ‘Community’ – A collection of photographs looking at both rural and urban neighbourhoods surrounding Barrow-in-Furness. The participants explored people, places, nature and industry as they discovered beauty in the unaesthetic, warmth in indoor spaces and humour in contradiction – all found on their doorstep.
