DIGITAL ART PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS + EXHIBITION

Manchester based photographer Rebecca Lupton worked with us as part of a residency throughout September and October 2010 to hold digital photography art workshops with local photographers of all levels. With 98 applications for 34 places this was a highly popular and competitive opportunity.

The workshops kicked off with hands on taster sessions on using digital photography creatively and following on from this participants went on to develop further in-depth digital art photography skills, from understanding digital camera functions to exploring trends in contemporary photography and the practicalities of getting your images online. The participants then worked on creating pieces inspired by the theme of ‘Traces’ and the relationships between people and their environments in the ‘regenerating’ landscape of Barrow.

The result was a successful exhibition and opening night event showcasing the participant’s finished photographic work exploring the theme of TRACES. Over 65 people were in attendance to view and discuss the work with the participants at the opening, many of whom commented on the engaging personal subject matter and the striking images.
